林语堂（1895--1976)，福建龙溪人,现代著名作家。原名和乐，改名玉堂、语堂，笔名毛驴、宰予、岂青等，文学家。福建龙溪人。1912年入上海圣约翰大学。1919年后留学美国、德国。1923年回国，在北京大学、北京女子师范大学任教，支持爱国学生运动。1926年去厦门大学任教，写杂文，并研究语言。1932年后陆续创办《论语》、《人间世》、《宇宙风》，推动小品文的创作，成为论语派主要人物。1936年旅居美国。1947年任联合国教科文组织美术与文学主任。1954年任新加坡南洋大学校长。1966年定居台北。著有《剪拂集》、《开明英文读本》、《开明英文文法》、《大荒集》、《我的话》、《生活的艺术》、《吾国与吾民》、《无所不读》、《京华烟云》、《风声鹤唳》和《语堂文存》等。
